Our Spring/Fall camping trips and Coming of Age Journeys are transformational! 

Our love for the natural world and the freedom we feel in the wild outdoors is an integral part of our programming at Roots of Wonder. Every Spring and Fall the Seeds Sisters and the Renegade Maidens go on a camping adventure to Spavinaw Creek. Every time we step foot onto this sacred land, it feels like a homecoming. There is no doubt this sense of belonging comes from our connection to the pre-Cambrian granite stone emerging seamlessly out of nowhere, the cool watershed that feeds into our Tulsa drinking water, and native plant life that surround us. This is the land where we prepare for our Maiden Voyage.

 Crossing the threshold from Seed Sister (adolescent/childhood) to Renegade Maiden (teenager) is a special time in a girl's life. We value this monumental passage and choose to celebrate it with a wild adventure on the Buffalo River. The transition happens when a pod of 4-6 girls have been in the Seed Sisters for at least one year and are ready for this next stage of life. The pod meets with their mentor to discuss their adventure options, create a plan and prepare a budget together then set off on a multi-day Maiden Voyage.
